Hi, I believe you are referring to the process of reclaiming silver from a mirror. Unfortunately it is not a practical endeavor. The cost for the time and effort to do so will not be recuperated in the reclaiming, the silver layer that is deposited is incredibly thin.

That is a great question! You may find that you need to scrub a bit in the etching to remove the Silver. However, there isn't anything extra you need. When you go to re-silver your piece make sure you take extra time cleaning and rinsing by the etching as contaminants and extra Tin can hold there....
