Antiquing a Mirror You Purchased
When you antique an existing commercial mirror you need to remove the mirror backing paint before you can antique or distress the silver.
Factory made commercial mirrors have a thin layer of copper over the silver. You get different effects if you apply antiquing compounds over the copper or remove the copper to antique the silver directly. We have examples of both methods in our illustrated instructions.
