Backing Paint

Mirror Backing Paint

A mirror coating is 50 to 100 nanometers thick - about 600 times thinner than a human hair.

This fragile coating will tarnish and get scratched unless you protect it with a tested paint or lacquer.

Why use a special paint?

  • Untested paints and lacquers can tarnish the mirror coating over time.
  • Mirror backing paint is brittle. It breaks clean without bending or peeling.
  • Use lacquer, not paint, for glass containers.
