Galvanic copper adds a sacrificial layer of metal between the silver and the backing paint to protect the silver from any contamination that may work its way through the backing paint. It is used for perfect silver mirrors. When used on antiqued or distressed silver mirrors the pink copper can show through on the front of the mirror.
