Premier compound for polishing glass

QTY:

Description

Cerium Oxide is an optical grade zinc free compound for hand polishing glass. It is not suitable for cleaning inside blown or molded glass containers.

Cerium oxide works best with hot water - about 110 ° F. (43 °C.) The water from most hot water taps is about 140 ° F. (60 °C.)

How to use:

  1. First, clean the glass with liquid or powdered Glass Cleaner, a paper towel and hot tap water.
  2. Rinse off the Glass Cleaner with hot tap water.
  3. Sprinkle on a little cerium oxide and add a little more hot tap water.
  4. Using a felt polisher, scrub the glass all over in a circular motion.
  5. Add more water as needed to keep the slurry thin and watery. Pay special attention to the edges of the glass.
  6. Physically remove the Cerium Oxide with a clean, sopping wet sponge or paper towel.
  7. Rinse the glass thoroughly with tap water.
  8. Use distilled water to rinse off all the tap water.
  9. You are now ready to mirror the glass.
Scratch Removal:
Hand polishing alone will not remove scratches from glass. You can remove light scratches with a cerium oxide slurry and a machine driven felt polishing pad. Polishing out scratches distorts the glass surface. Mirroring makes distortions in the glass very noticeable.
