Product Description

    Details

Brushed Silver Glaze is a semi-transparent solvent-based silver lacquer that offers a misty silver backing for antique silver or aluminum mirrors.

Brushed Silver Glaze can be applied by spraying, flowing or brushing. It is not scratch-resistant. Protect it with Black Mirror-Backing Paint or Nikolas Clear Lacquer Spray. The solvents in Black or Gray Roll Coat dull the brilliance.

    Silvering over Brushed Silver Glaze

To create a fluid, tone-on-tone, antique silver mirror, clean the glass as for mirroring. Dry the glass and apply Brushed Silver Glaze in a random pattern. Allow the Glaze to cure overnight. Clean the glass lightly to remove dust and finger prints. Apply Wetting Agent before proceeding with the silvering process.

Brushed Silver Glaze will lift the edges of a cut vinyl mask. To create a tone-on-tone mirror with a vinyl mask, mask the glass, silver over the mask, lift the mask and then apply Brushed Silver Glaze in the open spaces allowing it to flow onto the silver.

    Transferring Product

Brushed Silver Glaze is very difficult to pour. To pour this product neatly, place a clean glass or plastic rod against the lip of the original container and into the bottom of the new container. The rod must not touch the sides of the opening. Allow the product to flow down the rod. The rod will guide the product and should prevent it from flowing down the outside of either container.
